Over the past 12 months we have had hundreds of customers telling us about phone calls they have received from various companies telling them they have problems with their pcs/laptops.
They pretend that they are ringing from Microsoft or various Computer Repair companies. They want to log in remotely to your computer to pretend to carry out a repair. They will then attempt to charge for the service afterwards or for some type of maintenance contract. They can be very persistent and we have had customers tell us that they have become very threatening and aggressive when they have refused to pay.
If you get a call please hang up on them and please DO NOT give them your credit card details. Microsoft or any legitimate company will never ring you.
THEY ARE ALL SCAMS.
If you do get caught we recommend that you get your computer checked for any remote software that they may have installed and you alert your credit card company and also that you completely change any passwords that you use on the computer.
